As the title really.

Colleague bought a 2015 Audi A3 Sportback TDi, a week ago. Wasn’t happy with how they cleaned it and asked if I’d re-clean it, change the velour mats for rubber ones she had me order and install the boot liner, she had me order.

Also got to try out the new drip catchers.

Nice and properly clean

Boot liner fitted. It just velcros in, where it covers the plastic it needs velcro tape (supplied, for the liner to adhere to it, easily done. Fitted in five minutes.

Nicely covers all the fabric of the boot protecting it from dog hairs that can weave into the fibres and be a right PITA to remove.

Removable lip protector to stop those unwanted dog claw marks on the rear bumper.

No befores I’m afraid. The velours weren’t bad at all, just crusted with sand, and general grime, just wanted to make them as clean as I could, so they’d be ready should she want to swap the rubber for velour at any point or make some cash back as they were genuine OEM velour mats.

They are just like this.

Just the same really as my Skodas (though not with the additional lounge mats on top).

Huh I suppose velour is for those fancy Audi's whereas the plebian cars I'm familiar with get cloth mats.

Lol. Here it’s mostly velour or rubber. Many people don’t want to buy OEM mats and so buy the cheap nasty kind, like the ones that came with our courtesy car.

Needless to say, I treated the courtesy car to some gen uine OEM velour mats.

I stumbled across them by chance. Tried looking for them after thinking whether to get them or not, and they took some finding. They are made by a company called Korean Twist and although I’ve a list of 20+ detailing company websites only one obscure place had them and Amazon U.S.

Velour is just a good name. Never mind what it is, it sounds exotic. So you hear “velour floor liners” or whatever and you conjure up images of rich soft upholstery.

The carpet in my car is actually surprisi ngly low quality. It almost feels plastic like. Like plastic brush bristles. So floor mats are a must.

Well for the Skoda Superb, there are three lines of mats.

Heavy duty rubber.

Description:

- set of 2 mats
- with SUPERB logo
- made from heavy duty rubber
- protect the interior of your car from anything wet and mucky
- easy to clean
etc... 

Standard velour.

Description:

- set of 4 mats
- Standard version
- SUPERB logo
etc...

then Prestige velour.

Description:

- set of 4 mats
- premium version (PRESTIGE line)
- made from polyamid PA6 - 370 g/m
- SUPERB logo
etc...

I had a 2018  S-line A3, albeit petrol, when I rented in the UK. I quite enjoyed it.

Ye', the magnets don't feel bit at all. Just big enough and strong enough to hold them under a wing mirror, after a wash and dry.

Ye’, looks the same, but it’s a higher GSM, so just like microfibres and paper/card, the higher the GSM, the higher the plush-ness.

It's the difference between a drying microfibre to a cleaning microfibre or a top quality writing paper to a recycled note taking paper.
